Yes, it's been a long break since that man with the snake. It could have been longer as I have so many photos of my last trip to Guyana, both digital and argentic photography, that I didn't know what to start with. So far, the digital are ready for showing. There might be more photos on my Aminus account (see link above), but stop talking, let's go ...
But, sorry, before, there's the need for a small introduction.
In Guyana (British Guyana), there's a
very peaceful and quiet place called Bartica, in the upper north of a
peninsula bathed by the Essequibo river. Peaceful and quiet but
still, there's something strange in the air, something I can't
explain. That feeling got stronger on the day when I saw this
« prison boat », taking prisoners down the peninsula, in
a prison surrounded with the jungle. And there are those huge trucks
that bring patrol, food and machines to the gold digging plants. And
those churches where you can hear enraged preachers. But still people
are nice, « laid-back » but in the end with a pretty
direct, rough attitude. Many weeks later, as I was selecting photos,
I learned there's been 12 people killed by a fugitive in 2008 ...
